A Stream of Hope

I have noticed a trend on the Net and in life these days. Too much negativity. People snipe at one another one post or comment at a time. We find fault, deride, ridicule, and slander one another. We revel in the sharing of bad news and seeing the failures of others.

I was not immune. It is an easy cycle to get drawn into. It is the current Zeitgist and thus one often feels the need to play along or be left behind.

So today I am launching the "hope stream". I plan to post positive messages on a daily(ish) basis. I will strive to be a beacon of light and hope in a morass of negativity.

You wont find LOL Cats here, nor puppies, nor the meme of the days. These things are cute and distracting. They definitely have a place. But I'm working for something a little less "fast food" then such things are. I'm hoping to start a wave of lasting change, by being a refuge people can turn to to escape the negativity. But also by providing a thought provoking message that will stick with people and help to inspire them to also spread the hope. The themes you'll find here are:

It is through enduring love and compassion that we will make positive changes in the world. Negative approaches tend to lead to negative results. Sure they are often quicker, but they harm both parties and make the world a less wonderful place. Coming from a place of love and compassion is often harder, slower, and more risky. I say risky because it calls us into our humanity and into a deeper more meaningful relationship with others and the world around us. Which is a wonderful and needed thing but it leaves us feeling exposed, vulnerable and more in touch with our feelings and the feelings of others. But to me and hopefully for you the reader the positives far outweigh the risks.

I don't know if this will amount to much.. But here's hoping.
